Hey friends! Here’s an update about some of the things I’ve been working on.
A big project that I’ve been working on for a few weeks has finally come to fruition in this Twitter account. Every day, it will feature a different 200 Word RPG chosen from the past challenges. It’s a great way to find new games, new designers, or new ideas. Check it out!
Next, let’s talk about Clink. Clink is a little game about Drifters without a Past. It’s not QUITE small enough for me to fund myself (like I did with Kintsugi), but it’s not NEARLY as big as Mythic Mortals. I haven’t quite decided if I want to kickstart it, or just save up some money and pay for it out of pocket. Either way, you can learn more about the game here. Maybe I’ll see you in a playtest soon.
Return of Video Games!
I’d like to share a quick reflection of Volgarr the Viking.
I saw one of my friends playing this a year or two back, but I didn’t remember it until recently. Billed as an old-school platformer, Volgarr looks really slick, plays very smoothly, and is extremely difficult. With a dark souls-like mechanic, the game will kill you over and over and over, until your figure out how to play.
And that’s where the incredible level design comes in. Each new screen presents challenges that are meant to be played a certain way. You can stumble through and get lucky in parts, but the game really shines when you figure out the tricks and can just slide past a level without any problems. It feels SO good!
It’s been a fun game to learn and invest in. I highly recommend it if you’re not afraid of tough platformers.
That’s most of what’s going on for me. Let me know if you’re interested in any of this stuff, or if there ‘s something you’d like to see more of!
